No Victory

 

Today you participated in the city speech contest and did not make the finals. Your mother and I went to the subway to pick you up, not out of comfort, but to encourage you. I asked you the first question when you got into the car, do you remember? What happened? Did you lose or didn't win? I said, "Then you lost today instead of winning!"”

If a person who lost intends to win back, then his loss today is not a real loss, but rather "not winning." On the other hand, if he loses the courage to fight again, then his loss today is not a real loss, but rather "not winning."

While I was young, I read Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea" in which he said "Heroes can be destroyed, but they cannot be defeated".I thought it was only a very philosophical sentence at the time, but I wasn't aware of its deeper meaning.In later readings of Nietzsche, I found a famous quotation: "Those who suffer cannot be pessimistic.".I thought, I've already suffered, why should I be denied the right to be pessimistic?

After decades of falling and rising, I gradually came to realize the truth of those two sentences after decades of struggle and struggle.

Heroic bodies can be destroyed, but the spirit and fighting spirit cannot be destroyed; the suffering people, because they have to overcome difficulties, cannot be pessimistic, but they are also more positive than others.

There is only one way to travel through the desert: wait for the night and walk as fast as you can to the next sheltered stop. No matter how tired you are, or how hot the sun is, you can't fall over, as the sun will rise the next day.

Life is a battlefield where we must not only have the perseverance to rise after a fall, and the courage to fight again, but also start the next wave of struggle the moment we are defeated, never allowing ourselves to lose hope. Do not allow yourself to be depressed. Thus, we are not completely losing, but temporarily "not winning".
